LS Valve Spring Locators for aftermarket Beehive Springs

Use with aftermarket springs w/ .885" and up ID

Our custom design locators are machined from 4140 chrome moly steel then heat treated to resist wear.

These have a .045" base thickness which offers .015" more available installed height over common .060" base versions.

Fits OE LS heads w/ .499"/.500" OD guides. Use with aftermarket beehive springs w/ .885" bottom side I.D. (will not fit stock GM beehive springs)

If your LS heads have "Hat" style seals, be sure to use the "Add Viton Valve Seals" Option towards the top of the page. Undesirable "hat" seals can be replaced by using our locators and valve seals. The seal option provides a set of sixteen viton valve seals for only $10.99. See picture for details on how the seals fit our locators. (Also see Note 1 below)

This design offers increased valve spring stability by supporting more of the spring. Modern OEM cyl head engineers have been incorporating taller locating wall designs to dampen springs without the need for internal flat wire dampers. In essence, the tall wall design limits lateral movement at full lift where more coils are contained compared to std wall height locators. This technology is not well known, it's one of many well kept industry secrets used by successful race engine builders.

Purchase comes with 16 locators as well as one shortened version, know as a "modified locator". The modified locator is used only as a tool when measuring installed heights. Since our locators are taller, the modified locator is needed to function with common installed height mic's. When measuring installed heights, use the modified locator. Once the target height is established, replace with one of the 16 locators and so on.

Note 1: Hat type seals are not hardened and offer a poor fit when used with aftermarket beehive springs w/ .885" ID. Hat seals have a .785" OD which leaves .100" clearance when used with aftermarket .885" ID beehive springs like Comp and PAC springs. By using our locators and optional seals, you can replace hat seals with a hardened locator and top quality valve seal. Please note stock GM beehive springs have a smaller ID, normally around .850" which is too small for these locators.
