Our current valve seat inventory comes from either Manley or Qualcast.

High Chrome Alloyed Seats are intended for unleaded fuel.

Chrome alloy seats can be machined on modern seat and guide machines or ground using stones. (Sioux, Kwik way, etc)

Most of the seats are available in increments of 1/16".

The listed outside diameter of the seat is the cutter size to use on the head.

The seat itself will have the proper press for an iron head added to it's outside diameter.

Example: A seat with a listed OD of 1.500" will measure around 1.5045"-1.506" so it will have around .0045"- .006" press fit if installed into a 1.500" counter bore.

Tech Notes-

  • Intake seats do not need to be changed to run unleaded fuel, only exhaust
  • Iron heads which come with factory installed seat inserts, normally use deeper, special OD replacement seats.
  • Aluminum heads always use deeper seats than iron.  
  • Aluminum heads commonly use depths between .312"-.437"
  • Propane applications require a high Nickel / Tungston alloy seats. If you're looking for industrial Hard Seats, inquire via email message.
  • Aluminum heads normally use around .007" press fit.
